Some snaps of spring blooms on the trees in my neighborhood. Making an effort to stop and appreciate the small details, especially today, on Earth Day! What are small, everyday tidbits that pique your curiosity?

Hope you all have a beautiful week.

Oh, beautiful Union Station! Located in the heart of downtown Denver, the stunningly restored Union Station is a destination in and of itself. Built more than 150 years ago, it wasn’t until 2012 that a collaborative development alliance sealed the deal on a multimillion-dollar renovation plan. The result, unveiled in July 2014, is a vibrant gathering place bursting with history as well as promise.

At Union Station’s center is the Great Hall, a sweeping room full of elegance and nostalgia. Glistening chandeliers and ornate, white molding emphasize the soaring, 65-foot ceilings, and enormous, arched windows flood the room with sunlight.

Above is just a small glimpse of its offerings, but here’s all what the historic building holds within:

Terminal Bar, the restored old ticket station that is now devoted to dispensing distilled-in-Colorado spirits and regional draft beers. Looking to shop? Lovely boutiques with artsy gifts and local crafts like Bloom and 5 Green Boxes; and a miniature version of Denver’s most beloved bookstore, The Tattered Cover are for you. Get your locally roasted caffeine fix at Pigtrain Coffee; or arrive early to beat the crowd at Snooze for a hearty breakfast. For lunch and dinner, Mercantile churns out some of the tastiest food I’ve ever had, while Acme has down-to-earth on the go items. Meanwhile, Stoic & Genuine has fresh oysters, classic lobster rolls and crispy whole haddock; and modern neighborhood bistro Next Door American Eatery has dishes made with ingredients that are 100 percent sourced from American farmers. Indulge your sweet tooth afterwards at Milkbox Ice Creamery, and top it off with a refreshing drink (while taking in the view from the top) at the Cooper Lounge. Stay the night at the dazzling Crawford Hotel, whose luxurious rooms give a nod to Pullman-era train travel.

Travel on your agenda? This is a train station after all! Hop on the Amtrak and choose a destination that takes you through the mountain ranges, while you relax and take in the wildlife sightings and snow-capped peaks. Or, if you’re here during ski season, take the train up to Winter Park and hit the slopes for the day all while avoiding I-70 traffic.

Catch ya on the street next time!

The color, the architecture! This, my friends, is Baker Neighborhood. Catty-corner to Wash Park and Lincoln Park, Baker has a robust historic and colorful offering that includes a Collegiate Gothic school, Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired library and quirky Arts and Crafts Bungalows. The structures were built in the Queen Anne Style and are prime examples of Victorian Architecture.

It’s also proximity to Broadway’s Main Street, which offers diverse shopping, dining and entertainment options. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area! I was so inspired by all the color and design.

Yesterday was a pretty special day, as I got to see my friend Logan and her boyfriend Colt while they were in town hosting a pop-up for their boot line, Cobra Rock. Logan and I studied photography together at Concordia University, and have kept in touch ever since those Montréal days where we’d rack up hours upon hours shooting and developing photos in the darkroom. Photography may be temporarily taking a back seat in her life right now, but I’m so proud of all the success and praise her and Colt have received on this exciting new journey of theirs.

As you can see, all their boots are made by hand and sewn together with American full-grain leather. Their workshop is based in Marfa, TX (dreamy, right?) where Logan and Colt spend their days creating the same way small-shop cowboy boot makers have been doing for over a century. Although they can work on several pairs at once, a single pair of boots takes nearly two and a half weeks to create — equating to the heart and soul of this small-batch handmade process.

I can’t wait to break in my new pair and watch them just get better upon each wear.

Upon arriving at Lisa Garcia’s shared studio space, I was immediately greeted with a big smile from the designer as I walked through the open door and into her studio being showered in the afternoon’s natural light. As I began snapping away, Lisa worked on a hoop art wall piece while we chatted about all her creative endeavors.

Kicking off with an impressive career in interior design, she’s also worked in art direction, photo styling and product design. When she’s not on the road touring (check out her band, Copperfox), she’s here in her studio working on handmade pieces for her line Soñadora (Spanish for dreamer). Applying a modern spin to her folk fiber art inspired pieces, she works with gorgeous high-quality fibers and it certainly shows through the texture, shape and color of each curated item.

Like what you see? Hop onto her Etsy shop to browse and purchase your own piece here.

My talented and sweet friend Elise Joseph of Pennyweight hosted her very first pop-up yesterday at The Poston House: a quaint two-story building close to Centennial Park. The event was filled with unique pieces made by local and national artisans hand selected by Elise. A respected curator, stylist and blogger, Elise is now also pursuing a lifelong dream: opening her own storefront. The pop-up was a nice taste of what to expect, and I can’t wait to see what she does next.
